The Danis Group can offer you carefully selected swine genetics through the “KI Lichtervelde” artificial insemination (AI) selection centre.

For KI Lichtervelde, quality and health are paramount. We therefore have a professional team on standby to provide you with the best possible service. Our own veterinarian guarantees the health of our boar stock.

Boars are always purchased by our own people. In this respect, KI Lichtervelde can count on the expertise of PIC, its exclusive partner.  PIC experts provide our customers with multi-level support, whether veterinary, management/technical or genetic.

The station

KI Lichtervelde has two production sites, with combined housing for 187 boars.

Our satellite station in Oudenaarde accommodates 28 boars, while our main site in Lichtervelde can house 159 boars. Both sites have a PRRSV-negative status.

In 2013, in order to safeguard the production of healthy semen in an area of intense pig-farming, it was decided to invest in an overpressure air filtration system. With this system, incoming fresh air is always channelled through a membrane filter which prevents the entry of airborne pathogens. This allows us to offer maximum health protection to our animals at all times.

KI Lichtervelde deliberately opts to purchase only AI boars from breeders with a PRRSV-negative status. Newly acquired boars have to spend at least 6 weeks in one of our quarantine stalls before they can be added to the stock.

Finally, KI Lichtervelde is ISO 9001 certified, which is a guarantee of excellent hygiene and quality. We are audited annually by an independent audit firm (AB Vinçotte) in the context of the certification.

Obtaining an ISO 9001 certificate boils down to the following: “Say what you do; do what you say and prove it.”

Terminal sire line boars

Our terminal sire line boars offer an answer to every market segment. We also try to match our selection to the requirements that you impose on your farm business. KI Lichtervelde is motivated by two fundamental concepts: quality and health.

Sow genetics

Through our exclusive partnership with PIC, KI Lichtervelde is also responsible for the distribution of PIC sow genetics in Belgium. The concept of “Total Economy” played a major role in choosing PIC, as the PIC breeding programme is well balanced and all economic parameters are taken into account.
